Program Framework
Curriculum
Our main curriculum framework blends educational programs from the U.S., England, Singapore, and Switzerland designed for English language learners. It is thematic, standard-based, and it is aligned with the process model – an open-ended approach that focuses on the results, the process, and the pace of individual learning.
The Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) component is embedded in our curriculum as a center of a specific attention. It connects everything together for the successful learning outcomes as it aids children in building fundamental personal attitudes important for their advancement. Children learn how to get along with the others and work together, how to include each other in activities, make and keep friends, and resolve disagreements with each other.
Formation of attitudes such as mutual respect, courtesy, tolerance, and even good manners are part of the daily learning. In addition, the emotional component allows the child to learn to manage his own feelings and to understand the feelings of the others. Children learn how to self-regulate their behavior, talk about their feelings and show concern for others.
The children’s developmental needs are our primary focus in planning the instructional activities of our curriculum.
Lessons are interdisciplinary and are designed according to the theme of the month as the content is playfully integrated for the following subject areas:

Enriching Variety
Extra-curricular Activities
LightHouse Kindergarten offers an excellent variety of additional activities for parents to choose from in order to expand the experience of their children with us. We have carefully selected them in three main categories to broaden our main program and assist in developing the whole child and its specific talents, interests, and new skills.

Bilingualism
Dual Language Program
In addition to our core English-language based curriculum, we offer optional bilingual program for all age groups. Classes in Bulgarian language are initially introduced to our youngest learners and they are additionally reinforced in the preparatory levels of K5 and K6.
The program incorporates studies in Bulgarian language in accordance with the national educational standards regulated by the Bulgarian Ministry of Education in the following subject areas: Math (Математика), Bulgarian Language (Български език и литература), and Social Studies (Околен свят).

STEM
Science & Technology
We believe that the foundations for analytical and technological thinking can be nurtured and developed way before children enter school. Children are natural scientists curious about the world around them and eager to discover new things.
Our early introduction to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) is providing children with opportunities for active hands-on exploration and experimentation drawing from their natural curiosity about the world around them.
We focus on building children’s analytical skills, critical thinking, prediction, and problem-solving abilities.
Path to Success
School Readiness
Achieving bilingual school readiness is final objective of our efforts at LightHouse Kindergarden. It provides the parents with expanded possibilities in their orientation to both international and local Bulgarian elementary schools.
The holistic perspective of our approach guides us not merely in support of children’s cognitive and academic development in reading, writing, expanded vocabulary, foreign language comprehension, or understanding of math concepts. It also ensures the evidence of character formation, emotional resilience, personal responsibility, and development of the expected habits for structured learning in a school setting.
